Amarillo Medical Specialists is the largest private practice Internal Medicine group in the Texas Panhandle. We are focused on providing a patient centered approach, and we want to be your 'Medical Home'. SAFE and ACCESSIBLE healthcare for Amarillo . Amarillo Medical Specialists remains open to take care of you, whether in-person, by televisits, or by phone. A few quick notes: 1) You may choose to convert your visit, whether it is a routine visit or a sick visit, to a televisit. 2) Our offices are intensively cleaned nightly. 3) We use disinfectant throughout the offices multiple times on surfaces and equipment during the day. 4) Masks are required for all guests and visitors . 5) Patients who are potentially sick with are booked appointment times that are separate from healthy patients, and are isolated. Sick patients are evaluated by phone, and suspect patients tested in the parking lot without coming inside the building. 6) Our staff has been trained to reduce the risk of transmission to themselves, and to others. We have not had a single staff member with Covid since this began. Any staff members who are exposed at home by a family member are reassigned to home quarantine and are not allowed to work. What to do about your appointment : IF YOU ARE NOT SICK - We feel confident that the risk of coronavirus inside our offices is low, and it remains safe to come in for your appointments for routine issues such as checkups and wellness visits. However, we recognize that many of you are choosing to avoid contact with anyone. All of our doctors offer TELEVISITS to replace a physical visit. Call our office and tell them that you want to convert your visit to a televisit. Note: Not all visits can be replaced with a televisit, if we need to exam you in person. Please visit our televisit page on instructions on how to get set up for your televisit! Televisits are now covered by Medicare. Aetna is waiving the patient copay on commercially insured patients with televisits. Most of our doctors will be happy to see you by televisit. Some televisits need lab work. If that is the case, your doctor can discuss testing options. IF YOU ARE SICK - PLEASE CALL THE OFFICE FIRST FOR INSTRUCTIONS. We will want to hear what your symptoms are, and guide you to the best place. This happens best with a televisit, so if possible, install our HEALOW app on your phone, and call us to do a televisit. If unable to install HEALOW, as an alternative install ZOOM GROUP MEETING. If you need to be seen the same day, we can schedule you a time later in the day so you can be seen and tested. Some patients may be best seen at the hospital, and we can make that assessment when when you have your televisit. We have in-house testing for Influenza A, Influenza B, and Strep that takes 15 - 30 minutes. We usually do this while you wait in the office. We do have the ability to do Coronavirus PCR swab testing in house. This is done in a matter of minutes if supplies are available. Again, please do not come in without calling us first so we can ensure precautions are in place to protect our staff and other patients.
